The neighbourhood of Central Lonsdale is nestled between Upper and Lower Lonsdale and extends from Highway 1 to Keith Road. Its loose boundaries include Ridgeway Avenue to the east and St. Andrews Avenue after 17th Street to the Upper Levels Highway. Lower Lonsdale, Capilano and Pemberton Heights surround this neighbourhood.


In recent years, Central Lonsdale leans toward a denser number of medium- to high-rise apartments bordering Lonsdale Avenue, which characterize the area and are popular with younger residents in particular. Central Lonsdale continues to be a popular neighbourhood for first time home buyers as well as young families, due to its close proximity to schools, parks, shopping, and quick access to transit.

The largest green space in Central Lonsdale is Mahon Park, located on Mahon Avenue just north of Keith Avenue. Featuring soccer fields, kid’s play areas, picnic grounds, and numerous walking and cycling trails along Mission and Wagg Creeks, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy an active lifestyle. Nearby Victoria Park is another neighbourhood green space with lots of walking trails, and The Harry Jerome Recreation Centre offers an ice skating rink, swimming pool and weight room for community residents. The Centennial Theatre is a popular performing arts venue in Central Lonsdale which regularly puts on shows and events, and also has a lobby art gallery showcasing a variety of local talent. Central Lonsdale’s neighbourhood also includes the new Civic Plaza on 13th Street, which houses the city’s municipal hall and library. Central Lonsdale offers an abundance of eateries for food lovers, from various sushi spots such as Sushi Katsu, Sushi Bella, offering French-Japanese fusion delicacies, and Tawara Sushi, to other ethnic restaurants such as Tamarind Hill Malaysian Cuisine, Pawan’s Indian Kitchen and Persian dining spot, Mehman Restaurant. The Portly Chef, a family run Bistro, is also said to serve up some of the best culinary fare on the North Shore, and if you’re looking for a good spot to grab a cup of coffee,The Echo Cafe is an independently run establishment, serving organic coffee, loose leaf tea, homestyle food and afternoon tea.


A popular spot for shopping, Lonsdale Avenue is home to numerous stores, from clothing stores and bike shops, to bakeries and florists. Popular shops include Blue Sky Clothing Company, North Shore Girl and Golestan Bakery. There are a few places to grab groceries along Lonsdale Avenue, including Lonsdale City Market, 24 7 Foods and Anna’s Fresh Produce. Nearby, residents can also take a short journey to Lonsdale Quay Market, home to a food court, restaurants and brewery, as well as several retail shops, or Westview Shopping Centre, Capilano Mall, both a short drive from Central Lonsdale. Central Lonsdale is also home to the Lions Gate Hospital, the fourth busiest hospital in Vancouver, offering a full range of general as well as specialized care services.


Central Lonsdale is home to several schools, with elementary schools including Queen Mary Community School, Queensbury Elementary and Westview Elementary School, and Carson Graham Secondary being a popular choice for older students


Frequent buses along busy Lonsdale Avenue provide easy access to downtown Vancouver via the Seabus terminal, located at south end of Lonsdale. The Seabus runs every 15 minutes during its regular schedule. Central Lonsdale’s northern border is also the Trans-Canada Highway, which provides quick access to West Vancouver and downtown Vancouver if you drive. Central Lonsdale’s great location also provides easy access to pedestrian routes and recreational hot spots.
